Some mechanical things just lend themselves to being anthropomorphised. This old machine was sitting quietly on the dirt road, feeling its age and chuntering out of the side of its mouth. The eyes betray the realisation that it is getting old and things get harder and harder to accomplish. If it did come to life it would stick a cigar in that mouth and chew on it. And it would say, “you know what I think …. ?”

Or maybe it was just a hunk of metal.
