Acrylic on canvas, 30.5 x 40.5 cm, 2014.
From our house we have an unobstructed view of the sunset on every day of the year. In midwinter the sun sets over the middle of the uninhabited Tsoungria Island, tracks all the way along Skiathos, sidles onto the the Pelion and finally, on Midsummer Day drops down behind the mountains above Neochori, or thereabouts.
At that time of year the sun descends into a cauldron of flaming molten mountain and I tried to show that in this, the second of the sunset series.
