Acrylic on canvas, 51 x 40 cm, 2014, framed.
The clarity of winter light in Glossa is astonishing. On some days you feel as if you can see for ever. Burning prunings from the olives and other garden waste is strictly forbidden in the summer months, so a “good burning day” is important. Clear, dry and with very light wind is perfect. I wanted to capture that clarity and the way the smoke responds to local breezes in strange ways. It didn’t quite work, but I learned a lot.
